During Covid, we all had a bit more time for projects. In my case, I tried to learn French and in the three years since, have made minimal progress, but that’s a story for another day. The other project was a recipe e-book.
I came up with a collection of recipes that I deem to be the most vital. At school, I dreaded 11am. Instead of the dinging of bells to chime the hour, my stomach did it instead, in some cases, turning classmates’ heads in alarm.
My solution was to eat two breakfasts, drink endless water to fill myself up, and to cough loudly as the rumbles began. Nothing worked and the rumbles continued. So, this is why I’ve put together this recipe book - here are the morning snacks, the ‘elevenses’ we need to bridge that epically long gap between breakfast and lunch.
In this book, there are 15 recipes for cookies, cakes, muffins, scones and tea loaves. Some are considerably more indulgent than others - see the Nectarine & Blackberry Croissant Cake - while others pique a creative baker’s interests - see Raspberry, Strawberry & Basil Roulade. Whatever your craving, here are 15 new easy recipes to tame those morning sugar cravings (or if you’re a savoury lover, there are also some Cheese Scones).
The fact it’s taken me three years to finish this book is yes, surprising, but let me tell you - should you ever want to upload a recipe e-book to Amazon or Google Books, there are endless complications! In the end, the book sat in my folders while I hummed and hawed, perfected recipes and waited for the ideal moment. That moment is now and, you my dear reader, have access to it completely for free right here! I hope you enjoy it!
I want to cook each one of these recipes Ally. They look great. As someone whose body clock wants them to eat at morning and afternoon tea times, rather than conventional breakfast and lunchtimes, I totally get you. Thanks for sharing these recipes. Cheers, Jane in Australia
